The DeSimone Residence
1218 S. Blue Ridge Avenue

This charming Cape Cod was built by the Clore family of Culpeper in 1950 during the post-WWII building boom. Dick Clore called this his boyhood home for years. Later, Dr. Stewart and his family lived here for five years with their five children.
The DeSimone family has resided in the home for 19 years. Inside, the family has removed some plaster walls and "faux" painted others in striking colors. They have changed all the light fixtures, retiled all the bathrooms and added a master bath. When they enclosed the sun room, they opened up the kitchen and added a slate tile floor with radiant heating. A deck that runs the length of the house was added to enjoy their mountain view as well as a retaining wall to accommodate a driveway courtyard at the back of the house. They landscaped the grounds with dozens of new plantings and added an arbor, second deck and lighting to enjoy the yard at night as well.
The DeSimones enjoy their various cars, so garages were updated for some of the vehicles which may be on view during the Tour, as will several paintings by local artist, Michelle Powell.
The Culpeper Garden Club is assisting by creating arrangements for the main floor rooms on view.
