Alexander Spotswood, and those arriving then and shortly thereafter are founders of Culpeper’s first families: Aylor, Blankenbaker, Brumback, Clore, Crigler, Fishback, Hanback, Hitt, Hoffman, Holt, Holtzclaw, Kemper, Coons, Martin, Moyer, Nay, Rector, Spilman, Tanner, Utterback, Utz, Wayland, Weaver, Wilhoit, Yager, Yowell and many others. Visit www.germanna.org to see if your family is listed! Directions to The Brawdus Martin Germanna Visitor Center: Take Rt. 29 Business South (Main St) from the Museum of Culpeper History. Turn left on Rt. 3 East toward Fredericksburg. After crossing over the Rapidan River and entering Orange County, turn right into the Germanna Community College campus.
